I kept a second home in downtown Redmond and spent every other week there. Working for the Patterns & Practices group, first as a consultant, then as an employee, I helped deliver several pattern collections addressing enterprise issues.

Facetted Pattern Catalog coded in a scripting language built into a .NET implementation of wiki.

Full-Time Equivalent Contributors showed from log analysis that my c2.com wiki had six FTE volunteers.

I explained why wiki has life to both the SharePoint team and the Encarta team. SharePoint eventually offered a simple wiki as an extension. Encarta went away.

I encouraged the adoption of agile methods both within my group and others at Microsoft.

Our developers took over an old server space making the first active team room and this initiative lead to our selection for experimental space redesign as Microsoft considered moving away from its tradition of private offices.
