Participating Directories

Directories adhere to search-favorable conventions. Individual curators collect and adjust site descriptions as a service to readers and the authors they favor.

# Sites

A directory contains only pages titled with domain names where each contains a curated synopsis and a Reference to the best entry page for the site.

The synopsis should be two lines long and tuned for keyword density and clarity in search results.

The Reference should cite the page intended as entry to a site, typically the root of "pages where we do and share".

These pages are maintained even if a site goes offline. Replacement sites might be mentioned if known.

A directory site itself is often a subdomain conventionally named 'sites'.

A directory will have a Welcome Visitors page which cites itself as "pages about us" and possibly a featured site a "pages where we do and share".

# Curators

Individual curators choose sites judged notable enough to deserve the broad awareness of the federation.

Curators should know the sites they catalog. Avoid sites famous for being famous.

Curators can Transport pages into the expected directory page format. Requires version >=0.1 transport.

Curators can avoid duplicating citations by loading other indices and watching for twins while transporting.

Curators should request inclusion in this site's Roster through email correspondence with ward at c2.com.
