_the fundamental nature of default, executive and salience networks_
With new imaging technologies such as fMRIs, the field of neuroscience as been transformed, allowing us to leave behind old models of how the brain works and begin to develop new ones, ones that recognize the brain as a set networks tied together by a connectome.
Three primary networks were identified, the 'default' network, the 'executive control' network and the 'salience' network.
