Catalog of Scales

We consider what scales we will use to rate cities and choose concise but evocative titles for each.

# Work

Brainstorm unlinked titles, one per paragraph.

Organize these into categories. Separate or combine dimensions into scales that have a uniform granularity.

Rewrite titles as positive properties where more stars would be better. Air Quality vs. Air Pollution. Shorter is better. These will become labels on downstream charts.

Link each title and make the pages. Write at least a synopsis that removes any ambiguity from short titles.

# Flow

The catalog creates a low-risk environment for information design that will be largely frozen as Templates are used.

Authors will make judgments based on the factors you suggest for each scale. The chosen titles serve as mnemonics for the factors they represent.
