Unfamiliarity and even discomfort with circular Causality is a big problem for the human race.
Circular, self-referential causality feels elusive. The experience of elusiveness occurs because this type of relationship is dynamic--if it stops going round it dies. Some of us feel uneasy considering systems that cannot be left alone. Maybe it is the kind of anxiety that leads some people away from having children. But there is no future for us if we do not collectively get comfortable with circular causality. The mechanism of stable circular causality is a key missing piece of our education.
It is interesting that the software that does Bayesian probability calculation does not allow Circular Graphs. How odd since system dynamics modeling is built on Causal Loops, all of cybernetics is built upon Feedback loops. Are there workarounds in Netica Web ?
