Computer-enabled Metathinking

_We stumble onto these words, words that form into a term that has new meaning felt – a meaning that might be felt by others._

J. C. R. Licklider, in his 1960 paper _Man-Computer Symbiosis_, explored how new devices, computers, might allow our human intelligence to be augmented, in what was referred to as 'Intelligence Amplification (IA)'. IA is in contrast to what is called 'Artificial Intelligence (AI)' where computer systems are seen by many as replacing human intelligence.

Alan Kay, when conceptualizing the first object-oriented software language, _Smalltalk_, wondered how the emergent nesting nature of objects might allow software engineers to think differently, at higher levels of abstraction – meta – to unleash new creative potential.

Ward Cunningham sensed this Regenerative Unfolding when reimagining the wiki as a creative space, one that encourages synthesis of meaning into higher levels of understanding – meta abstractions.

We sense important work here as we are Dancing at the Edge, knowing that we are leaving trails that do not fade.

Hoping that the Curiosity of others might be sparked.
