Only our Operating System is proprietary, like many other operating systems (e.g. Windows or macOS). The rest of the Microverse stack is fully open-source. That means all of the libraries and frameworks used by Microverse (e.g. the Worldcore 3D engine) are open-source, as well as the 3rd party libraries we use (like Three.js). You can build apps directly on the OS layer, or using intermediate frameworks like our VDOM, or Worldcore, or React bindings, all of which are open-source.
