When Adele talked about the note taker challenge, I was wondering how close we are to what she would find acceptable.

These folders computerhistory contain a bound compilation titled "A Selection of NoteTaker Documents" and also an excerpt from a book draft that proposes "a two-dimensional syntax for the NoteTaker programming language; the semantics is that of the current (1977) Smalltalk.
A different source from the NoteTaker compilation describes the NoteTaker project as "an effort to integrate the various tools that have already been built on Alto/Smalltalk systems: programming language; text and picture editors; document preparation; storage and retrieval methods; animation and music systems."
