A position statement usually states the position, the "side" of an argument, that the writer of the statement is taking. On a non-Thread Mode Wiki page, only the first author of a given page will write this.
Isn't this like Op Ed?
It's related, but not the same. The Position Statement is exactly what it says, whereas the Op Ed is an entire article.
