Agile Innovation, by its nature, is disruptive and messy.
For this reason, it is essential to have structured discipline to guide the process. Without this discipline, the process will quickly break down.
First and foremost, the process requires a Higher Purpose. This purpose is an Audacious Aspiration the provides higher meaning for the journey. This meaning is essential to build the Creative Confidence that is required the Walk into the Unknown
Next, the process requires accountability. To achieve this accountability, commitments need to be made and delivered within agreed upon timeframes. Typically, these commitments are defined in short bursts of activity, called a Sprint that last 1-3 weeks. These sprints are all working toward a near-term goal, called a Release, that is an important step in the direction of the Audacious Aspiration.
To manage this process, we have found it valuable to use Trello Boards that utilize a simple Kanban model to define and manage the tasks that need to be accomplished to meet the goals of the Sprint.
