Talk Page

Talk Page is for Home Page what Discussion Page is for any other Wiki Page.

This page gives a suggestion for a different way of working on this wiki, which is used elsewhere.

This page is in Document Mode. The Discussion Page is here: Talk Page Discussion

Explanation: The Talk Page concept is to complement the concept of Discussion Page which suggests to append 'Discussion' to any Wiki Page in order to separate Document Mode of a general Wiki Page from Thread Mode of the Discussion Page. In this light Talk Page is the Discussion Page of a Home Page. Since Home Pages are considered a more private space, a page mainly edited by the person under who's name it is, it is also to the discretion of the "owner" of any given Home Page, how they like to handle their Mail Box, either as part of their Home Page or as a separate Talk Page.

Please do not confuse Talk Page with other concepts like Discussion Page or Name Page!

Name Pages are not created by Wiki Citizens of this wiki as their Home Page but about people of specific interest like Alan Turing.

A Discussion Page created by appending 'Discussion' to the name of your Home Page would indicate not a page to talk to you, but to discuss about you like you became the subject of a debate.

Where does it come from? I introduced this concept on 10/2014 shortly after coming to this wiki, on account of my Media Wiki based experience with those Talk Pages. There nearly all Wiki Pages got a Talk Page attached to it automatically except for so called System Message Pages. --Manorainjan Holzapfel

'How to implement':

Create a link to your new Talk Page to be on one of the ends of your Home Page, preferably on top, so that you and the visitors to your talk page don't need to scroll.

format: Talk

Maybe You like to add some words or signs that clarifies for your reader what that means

Click that link to create your personal Talk Page.

Add a Back Link to your Home Page on top of your Talk Page.

Add Category Talk Page at the bottom of your Talk Page.

Tell Your visitor how you like it, newest on top or bottom. Top is preferred, again because of no scroll.

Advantages and disadvantages:

It is a concept to be used freely on ones own discretion. (which could be seen as disadvantage)

One has to do it on ones own, gets the possibility but no structural support by any technical implementation. So, how do get people to know about it? When they click on the hopefully provided Category Home Page link.

It helps to prevent that Home Pages get messed up with possibly unsigned comments.

If you like to search for public discussions c2.com you will not find any personal talk nor documents.

Nobody needs to make out any sense of the way somebody organised their Home Page. You do not even need to look at it in order to talk to them. So the 'owner' of a Home Page that is complemented by a Talk Page is more free in its form. They do not need to have any consideration for talkative visitors.

A Talk Page is an obvious invitation to talk to that Wiki Citizen. No need to be shy.

In summary, a Talk Page is a feature used on wikis and other collaborative websites that allows users to discuss and make suggestions about the content of a particular page. It is usually linked to from the bottom of the page and is often used to discuss how to improve the page or resolve disputes about the content. The concept of Talk Page is to complement the concept of Discussion Page, which suggests appending 'Discussion' to any Wiki Page in order to separate the Document Mode of a general Wiki Page from the Thread Mode of the Discussion Page. The Talk Page is the Discussion Page of a Home Page, which is considered a more private space, mainly edited by the person under whose name it is. It is at the discretion of the "owner" of any given Home Page how they like to handle their Mail Box, either as part of their Home Page or as a separate Talk Page. The concept was introduced in October 2014 by Manorainjan Holzapfel.
