The Concept of Distributed Interpretation

Qualitative research has always been a collaborative endeavor between humans and their available media technologies (e.g., tape recorders, CAQDAS software). We should therefore understand interpretation as a process of distributed cognition, jointly performed by researchers and their technical tools.
