Valence

In Syntax Theory, a subcategorization frame is a formal description of the syntactic (and sometimes semantic) valence of a word (especially a Verb), i.e., the number and type of arguments required by that word.

In psychology and neuroscience, "valence" refers to the subjective experience of positive, negative, or neutral affect associated with a stimulus or event. Valence is not typically described as an "attracting force," but rather as a dimension of affective experience that can influence behavior and cognition.
