Early adopters are First Followers of Innovators. They pay attention to these innovators and have the courage to explore how they might be able to apply new practices based on what they have seen.
These early adopters play a critical role in the transformation of a culture. For it is they, not the innovators, that the rest of the community emulates.
For innovators are outliers. They are seen as fundamentally wired differently from others. But the Early Adopters are seen as practical people, who are taking those innovations and creating practices that others can use.
They are the ones of whom others will say, “If they could do it, perhaps I can too”.
It is their experiences, and the stories that they tell about them, that give others the courage to change. They are the builders of the bridge over the chasm in the Rogers Curve.
