Last night I took some time out to implement the first version of __wiki tv__.

# Motivation The motivation this time was personal, last time with Vaudeville Court TV it was something I wanted to do for the community. This time I my motivation is to integrate my writing in wiki, with my interest in listening to podcasts.
I listen to a lot of podcasts, and I also watch occasional material on television. Specifically I watch steaming video such as iPlayer as i don't have a TV. This is now a common practice, and it opens up the possibility of integrating this consumption of entertainment based media, with our personal creative environments.
# Small steps For several years now I have wanted to integrate my experience of writing and working in wiki, with my daily routing of listening or watching to media. The direction I've taken so far has been to focus on creating a studio. But to shortcut that development let's use vlc.
# VLC VLC is great. It can play pretty well any media file without complaint. It's purely open source, and easy to download and use cross platform. It is also a geek tool that can do amazingly powerful things like streaming and file conversion, but all this power is very opaque.
Wiki on the other hand is great at documenting how complex tools work, and federated wiki's add the affordance of being able to directly control devices on the local network. So why not use wiki to document and control vlc?
# First experiment The aim of the first experiment was to be able to watch a video at home using vlc on my laptop, and to control it from wiki on my mobile. The aim of this is to be able to pause the video easily, or at least to mark times in the video so that I can easily refer to these points in the video later in wiki. So the first step was to pause a video form wiki.
# Peer-to-peer
An important requirement for wiki-tv is that there is the ability for TV Stations to communicate directly with each other and share assets such as large free culture videos.
We can achieve this simply using ipfs, and as we have some work integrating IPFS and Livecode to build on a quick demo is in order: - [ ] Cornwall Cinema
